you don’t know

i am transgender

you act like you know

but you don’t

you don’t know how many nights i’ve laid awake wishing i was not me

you don’t know how often i’ve cried because i was born in the wrong body

you don’t know that the reason i idolize these men is because i wish i could be them

you think you know everything but you don’t

you can’t speak for trans people

and you can’t speak for me

you will never know what’s it’s like to be in my shoes

and you don’t know what it’s like to be trans
